We open our 2026–27 season with a programme that ranges from the bustle of Edwardian London to the darker corners of early twentieth-century Budapest.
Elgar's Cockaigne (In London Town) is a vivid, warm-hearted concert overture evoking the sounds and energy of the capital.
Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21, one of his best-loved works for the instrument, features soloist Milda Daunoraite.
The concert concludes with the complete version of Bartók's The Miraculous Mandarin, a visceral and dramatic score written for a ballet pantomime that scandalised audiences at its 1926 premiere.
